MOD 3 REVIEW/ EDIT DEADLINE FRIDAY 10/2/12

Firstly, WELL DONE to:
Becki & Beth who came in on Friday and stayed for 3 hours editing their individual films, and especially to Becki for making a huge amount of progress with her confidence on Final Cut. You are meeting the expectations of the A level.

I know others of you were out shooting this weekend, hope the time was productive despite the snow.

Other of you are not taking responsibility for your grades which means no hours outside of classtime editing which also means you are not doing your homework or meeting the expectations of A Level. To clarify, I expect 2-3 hours of editing per week, per student. Module 3 is coming to an end and we are over the half way point.

The deadline for your rough cut is fast approaching - this Friday 5pm.

By Friday 10/2/12 Each student must ensure they have:
Their Individual Edit completed and uploaded to their youtube account, then embedded (or paste link) to their blog

This includes (individual):

  1. The Title Sequence (with Cast & Crew roles as per professional examples & images/footage related to your films story & Title)
  2. The Opening

The above must be 2 mins max in total (thats both together) - the titles sequence ought to be seperate from your film - NOT INTERCUT LIKE A TRAILER.

We must establish clear role for the editing - if you have shot the majority or all the footage it is essential that your group partners take the major role in the editing of the group piece that gets submitted.

Please indicate who did what as precisely as poss on your group blogs for this week

FRIDAY IS AN INSET DAY - I would encourage you to come in a use the time to ensure you hit your deadline.

Any reshoots this week must be storyboarded

Marks will be DEDUCTED from Individual grades if you do not complete your individual cut by the end of the week. (Are you spending 3 hours a week editing in your own time - are you on that list?)

Good luck - all the best with the snow tomorrow

Half Term is to collect your audience feedback from facebook & youtube. Use the link to construct an online survey/questionniare

Man Flu

Hi All

Sorry but i won't be in today. Thank you for putting yourselves out to meet Kwame yesterday, i hope you found it useful and inspiring. He should be back to run a Music Video workshop in July.

Please continue with your editing today, the Lacie is in the top drawer where i usually sit, help yourself just put it back after - Georgina could you take responsibility for this please? Can you also post a reply to this so i have a register list to mark you in. Cheers

Adam, Kieran, Magg - was thinking about your film last night - having a montage of case files, news clippings of him putting someone away, a desk with his ID, a filing cabinet, (like the Se7en title edit i gave you as a task early on) with a shot of your character in an office might be enough to establish he is a detective (the most important character) - the death would make sense then - he has killed them for revenge rather than just a random attack. Also what might be better is if rather than having Kieran and the mother dead on the floor is if you just have a reaction shot of him entering the room and cut away to black then get some extreme close ups of police cars/ambulance with sirens flashing up on screen. There needs to be some vital props - a clue - that hints to how the protagoinst is going to track down the threat, like a text message with a photo of his dead wife etc... so you know that they have a prior relationship.

Any problems with th software Brandon may be able to help.

Thanks
Mr.B

Review of 2012 & Mod 3

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

Please download & watch this programme - no Media Student ought to miss this! Charlie Brooker is a Media Commentator writer for the Guardian, and a witer for TV shows such as Dead Set, Screenwipe & Black Mirror. He was also a presenter on the 10 O clock News Show - he's sarcastic, critical, up to date with all new media and very very funny...

Hope your film shoots went well - if you have followed procedure you ought to have some amazing footage to look through, I am keen to see the rushes.

As such we will have a screening of your rushes (as per the clip) when you return to work - or school - to discuss shot selection & how the sequence will hang together

This will be recorded/photographed & commented on on your individual blogs which will record your groups monitoring of decisions.

In addition to this each of you will record a weekly weblog video which you will post to your Youtube Channel and maintain throughout the construction stage over the next 6 weeks. Any photos or footage of the making will also be included. I will be cutting into the last 20 mins of the 2nd production lesson to give you time for this.

Reminder of deadlines -
end of 3rd wk - Individual Working Cut
end of Mod 3 - Rough Cut with Sound & Effects
end of 2nd wk Mod 4 - Final Submission of Film

Looking forward to working with you to make your movies.

All the best
Mr.B
