A History of Titles - research for your own sequence concept

Thriller Conventions - examples of well presented good research
This is how you should be presenting your research - it must be relevant to you understanding what a thriller is and demonstrate your learning merely a cut and paste exercise. It must be more than just descriptive - a reflective commentary is expected for the higher grades.

Below are the Levels and descriptions
Level 1 = 0 - 7 marks
Level 2 = 8 - 11 marks
Level 3 = 12 - 15 marks
Level 4 = 16 - 20 marks
Find the appropriate level and give yourself a mark
Then the conversion to ABCDE&U
R&P
A = 16/20
B = 14/20
C = 12/20
D = 10/20
E = 8/20
U = 7 & under
Where are you at?
What do YOU have to do to improve to the next level?
How will you do this?
By when?

Preliminary Task Evaluation
Hi All
For your evaluation, you may find the following questions useful to focus on being reflective and critical
The video production -
What did you do, does it work, do the edits (match on action) work well?
Have you stuck to the 180 deg rule?
Are the shots & angles well framed (rule of 3rds)?
Does it look convincing as a conversation?
What would you change to improve it?
Overall - how well have you completed the preliminary task?
Ensure this is uploaded to your blog by 4pm tonight with your video and all your planning
Many thanks

Housekeeping Media Room, Shooting procedure & Blogs
Hi All
Just a few things to go over in preparation for and reflecting on what's been happening this week for the Preliminary task.
I'm glad that lots of you have been coming in to use the Media Room, but I have a few housekeeping points that need to be addressed.
1. Please always log out when you have finished - anyone can access your work (that includes my tutor group). You have to take responsibility for the security of your work
2. Always Label your tapes - with your names and what is on the tape - these tapes are YOUR responsibility. Not mine. Not Mrs. B (no relation) If they get lost or misplaced you will have to sort it out.
3. Always label the tape box - and make sure it is in the right one (see Georgina's & Adam's respective groups for more information)
4. Always rewind the tape and record 10 seconds of black at the beginning as a pre-roll so Final Cut can Batch Capture. Make sure the Timecode is ON.
5. You will have a secure Media Drive area that you will save work to after half term. You must make sure all your images, doc and videos are saved here and organised in a folder. Anything left of the desktop will be deleted. For now all work should be under students>documents and video footage under students>movies>create new folder with your names and block
6. You MUST work on the mac that you uploaded your footage onto - you cannot save this onto a memory USB and use it across machines - it doesn't work like that. You will be allocated a machine to work on when you come to make your coursework - you must ensure that you stay on that machine.
7. No eating or drink other than water in the Media Room at any time. EVER. The keyboards are horrendous and full of germs - this makes us ill and causes us to have time off or pass it on to others.
8. No non-Media students allowed in the room - EVER. Its not a social club and if anything goes missing get broken I will have no choice but to conclude that it was them.
9. PLease make sure that you have created a GROUP blog and have linked your INDIVIDUAL blog to it so i can access your work for tonight 4pm. Your preliminary task needs to be on this along with script, storyboard or animatic and shot list. The evaluation can be a group voiceover or podcast as a directors commentary. All must contribute to it, or you can write it seperately on your own blog. Ensure you have photos of the 3 of you on the GROUP blog and individual blog
10. When shooting ensure you press Record first (shout TURN OVER - means record) MArk the shot with a clappeboard or a piece of paper that has the shot number and TAKE written on it. Count a silent 5 seconds before ACTION. at the end of the scene say CUT then count a silent 5 secs before finishing recording. This makes capturing easier and ensures you have captured all the action during the take.
Thanks
